I'm trying to figure out how to design a chapter page for a custom head
section with uservariables defined.
I'd like to have the chapter page start on a right page. I'd like this
page to feature the title of the chapter (here: an interview) along with

I think you can achieve what you want by using \placelist[chapter,section]
instead of \completecontent. Then you can start the TOC by
\startchapter[Content] \placelist…. \stopchapter. The same approach can be used
for other lists/indexes.

was indented after adding the \writebetweenlist hook to \setuphead.

Although getmarking is probably what you're really after
With \pagenumber I can call up the current pagenumber and typeset it.
But \chapternumber is not defined.
How can I typeset the current chapternumber or even the current
chapternumber.sectionnumber.subsectionnumber, for example?
